The RAK2287 is an LPWAN hub module in mini-PCIe format, featuring the Semtech SX1302 LoRa chip. Available in SPI or USB versions, it integrates easily with embedded platforms, routers and other network equipment to turn them into LoRaWAN gateways. It also includes a ZOE-M8Q GPS chip for time synchronization and localization. A complete, cost-effective gateway solution, it offers 10-channel programmable parallel demodulation, 8-channel LoRa® packet detection and simultaneous demodulation of 16 packets. Ideal for IoT, it manages node densities of up to 500 per km² in moderately disturbed environments.
The RAK2287 is a versatile, cost-effective LPWAN hub module designed for easy integration into existing routers and other network equipment. Its mini-PCIe format makes it easy to add LoRaWAN gateway functionality to a wide range of devices.

Detailed technical description
The RAK2287 is a complete concentrator module offering state-of-the-art performance and simplified integration.
Board and heatsink: the RAK2287 is designed in mini-PCIe format and incorporates a heatsink for improved heat dissipation.
Key features: The SX1302 baseband processor handles LoRa packet detection on 8 channels, and the LoRa demodulator can process up to 16 packets simultaneously. It also supports a high-speed LoRa demodulator and a (G)FSK demodulator.
Power supply interface: The RAK2287 module must be supplied with 3.3 V from a DC power supply via the VAUX pins. The voltage must be stable, as power consumption may vary depending on the operation of the SX1302 chip.
SPI interface: The SPI interface provides access to the SX1302's configuration registers via a synchronous full-duplex protocol.
UART and I2C interfaces: The integrated ZOE-M8Q GPS module features UART and I2C interfaces. These interfaces provide direct access to the GPS module. The PPS signal can be accessed both internally by the SX1302 and via the gold connector for use by the host board.
GPS_PPS input: Provides a precise timestamp for packets received.
RESET signal: resets the module's radio operations.
RF antenna interface: The module features an RF interface on a standard UFL connector (Hirose U. FL-R-SMT) for connecting antennas.
The RAK2287 is an ideal solution for IoT applications requiring efficient wireless connectivity and data management over a wide area and in moderately disturbed environments. It can support a dense network of up to 500 nodes per km².
