Groov RIO

groov RIO revolutionizes remote I/O by offering a compact industrial box powered by PoE or 10-32VDC with Web configuration, installation and commissioning software, and support for multiple OT and IT protocols.

groov RIO 's modern design offers industrial I/O including :

  • Two switched Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces, configurable as daisy-chain or standard star. Both interfaces use a single IP address.
  • Over 61,000 combinations of analog and digital I/O on a single 26-pin connector.
  • The network interface (ETH1) can be connected via Ethernet 802.3af PoE class 0, supplying power to the groov RIO and field I/Os.
  • Power supply terminal block for connection in the 10-32VDC voltage range.
  • A USB port, which can be used for additional peripherals such as a Wi-Fi adapter, a USB stick or a serial/usb adapter.
  • LEDs show the status of power, network and I/O activities.
  • A removable 26-pin I/O termination connector with spring-loaded wire retention.
  • Interface with databases, SQL, mySQL, etc.

groov RIO withstands a range of temperatures (-20 to +70°C) and with its industrial design, it can be used in a wide variety of applications and environments. groov RIO is UL / cUL certified and complies with ATEX, low voltage and CE (EMC) directives.

groov RIO combines temperature (Tc, ICTD, etc.), current or voltage I/O, digital I/O and 2 relay outputs (5A/300V) on a single DIN rail product!

groov RIO also offers a wide choice of uses:

Extend existing control programs or industrial applications by adding RIO groov to monitor, control and collect data from field devices.

  • With a PAC Control™ Basic or Professional strategy, to add a groov RIO as an I/O unit, simply configure the various points, then download the strategy to:
    - A groov EPIC® Processor running firmware version 2.0.0
    or
    - A SNAP-PAC or SoftPAC Controller running PAC Control™, firmware 10.3 (also requires PAC Project™ 10.3).
  • With a CODESYS® application, simply download and install the OPTO 22® library for the CODESYS® development system, version 1.1.0.0, then update the application and groov RIO.
  • With a specific controller, it is possible to access groov RIO I/O by programming via OptoMMP, API REST, Modbus TCP or MQTT.

This is the first module in the groov RIO range:

The IBC-R7-MM1001-10

The first product in the groov RIO family is the GRV-R7-MM1001-10, a multi-functional, 10-channel, multi-signal remote I/O unit with 61,260 unique field I/O combinations.

With groov Manage™, simply select the channel and configure the I/O signal, to activate a function, then save the configuration.

Software included: Groov Manage, PAC Project Basic, Groov View, Node-RED, Ignition Edge®.

Efficiently exchange data for IIoT projects using MQTT/Sparkplug communications, also provided by Ignition Edge Onboard (requires Groov Enterprise license).

Program your Groov EPIC using flowchart-based PAC Control with optional scripting. Or build your own custom program with secure shell access (SSH). Future support planned for IEC 61131.

Easily create the HMI you need for all your systems, peripherals and data using Groov View. Then use your HMI locally on EPIC's high-resolution touch screen, and from anywhere on any computer or mobile device. You can also build a traditional Microsoft® Windows® -based HMI using PAC Display.

Create simple logical flows with Node-RED. Use pre-built nodes to exchange data with other devices, web services, databases and more.

Connect to Allen-Bradley® and Siemens® PLCs with the included OPC-UA drivers from Ignition Edge (an Inductive Automation® product) (requires Groov Enterprise license).

Efficiently exchange data for IIoT projects using MQTT/Sparkplug communications, also provided by Ignition Edge Onboard (requires Groov Enterprise license).
